Folk & Farm is a one-woman metalsmith studio in Osoyoos, BC — in the heart of the South Okanagan, in Canada's only pocket desert.
My name is Maureen. I'm mostly self-taught, and I've been making jewellery long enough to know I'm not done learning. Every piece I make is hand-fabricated from scratch — cut, shaped, hammered, stamped, and finished one at a time in my home studio. No moulds, no casting, no machines. My style is organic and rustic, because that's who I am and where I live.
I don't believe in perfection. I believe in handmade. If you look closely at my work, you'll find tool marks, slight asymmetries, the evidence of human hands. That's not a flaw — that's the whole point. It's the difference between a piece made with intention and a piece pressed out of a machine somewhere on the other side of the world.
Folk & Farm makes handcrafted jewellery in sterling silver, copper, and brass — necklaces, cuffs, bracelets, earrings, bolo ties, and hair pieces — as well as custom hand-stamped pet tags for the dogs, cats, and animals of the South Okanagan and beyond. Each piece is one of a kind. No two are ever exactly the same.
When I'm not at the bench, you'll find me working in my flower gardens, out with my camera photographing the wildlife and landscapes of the Okanagan, or kicking up dust riding horses and chasing cattle through the sun-drenched sagebrush hills above Osoyoos. The love of the great outdoors is in everything I make.
Supporting Folk & Farm means choosing something real. Handmade, not machine-made. One of a kind, not one of thousands. Your purchase helps keep traditional hand-fabricated craft alive, and it means more to me than I can say.
Thanks for stopping by and having a peek inside my little shop.
